Over the past several years as much as larger
volume woodheads, particularly oversized drivers displayed the characteristic of
hitting the ball much and higher and with it, much shorter than the golfer would
have expected from the clubhead of that particular loft angle. This is because
the larger size woodheads have a CG position that is much further back from the
face, which then increases the trajectory of the shot higher than what the
golfer would have expected from any particular loft angle. The result is
confusion in the marketplace as golfers interested in using an oversize woodhead
are having to guess which loft angle will give them the desired shot trajectory
distance.
Another reason for the popularity of the larger
oversize woodheads is that the bigger heads tend to breed more confidence with
the golfer. The golfer tends to look at the large face striking area and gain
more confidence that the ball can easily be struck by the larger face area. The
Dog Face oversized hit area creates even more confidence at the
address.
